Sex Crimes
The term sex crimes can refer to a considerable range of sex offenses in California, from offenses against another adult to offenses against children to offenses that involve pictures or videos of children.
Most people think of sex crimes as rape, forced oral copulation, and child molestation. Persons who are convicted of such offenses are generally required to register as a sex offender with the department of justice and they may end up on the internet website. However, there are a lot of other common sex offenses that most people don’t normally think of, such as internet solicitation, indecent exposure and sexual assault/battery.
Sex crimes include:
- Child Pornography is anything that shows a person under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit behavior, including a movie or video, a photograph, or a computer-generated image.
- Solicitation of prostitution is a crime involving a person’s agreement to exchange money for sex.
- Rape and Molestation are crimes of sexual assault involving force or violence, or the threat of force.
